Updated module – Diabetes: Antihyperglycaemic Medicines

25th February 2026

NICE has recently updated its guidance on ‘Type 2 diabetes in adults: management’. In a change to national guidance modified‑release metformin alongside an SGLT2 inhibitor is now recommended as first‑line treatment for adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Around 4.5 million people in the UK are living with diabetes, so it is vital that healthcare professionals and students are up-to-date with the treatment recommendations for their patients.

The SCRIPT module ‘Diabetes: Antihyperglycaemic Medicines’ has been updated to reflect the changes in NICE guidance. The module covers the key prescribing information for the most commonly used medicines for Type 2 diabetes and provides a clear summary of the latest NICE recommendations. It is an excellent starting point to update your knowledge.
